Interpreting

Type of interpreting

Ad-hoc Interpreting
We supply professional interpreting services to public sector bodies, financiers and legal firms in the UK.  Ad-hoc interpreting is mostly used in less formal situations such as meetings between small groups, hospital visits or an appointment with your solicitor.

Telephone Interpreting
This flexible service that fits around you and can be set-up within a few minutes. Our coordinators will take a few simple details such as names and telephone numbers and then set up a conference call.

The coordinator will then call you and the person that you wish to speak to, with a professional interpreter on the telephone line ready to start interpreting. This service is ideal for meetings in the UK and abroad and can prove to be very economical in comparison to face to face interpreting.

Consecutive Interpreting
Albyn Languages offers a wealth of experience in this method of interpreting, a common technique used in small conferences or group discussions. Consecutive interpreting is whereby The spoken  transfer (by an interpreter on behalf of a speaker, for the comprehension of one or more listeners) of meaning from one language to another, either after the speaker has finished speaking, or during appropriate pauses in the speaker’s speech.

Simultaneous Interpreting
This is common at large multinational meetings where proceedings are interpreted with a 2-3 second delay such as court proceedings, whereby the spoken transfer (by an interpreter on behalf of a speaker, for the comprehension of one or more listeners, at normal voice levels) of meaning from one language to another, while the speaker is speaking.

Whispered Interpreting
This is common in a seminar or court proceedings, whereby the spoken transfer (by an interpreter, on behalf of a speaker; at lowered but audible voice level; and usually for the comprehension, and directly into the ear, of a single listener) of meaning from one language to another, while the speaker is speaking.
